If you’re a Back to the Future nut and have a spare $5,000 lying around (and if you’re US-based), then Marty McFly’s super cool (but oh so geeky) sneakers from the awesome sci-fi movie trilogy could now be yours.
Nike and the makers of BTTF have got together to create 1,500 pairs of the sneakers which for the next week or so are being auctioned off on eBay, with bids closing anywhere between $3,000 to $10,000 so far. All proceeds go to the Michael J. Fox Foundation which aims to make Parkinson’s disease a “thing of the past”.
There’s no power laces (“yet”), but this model does feature the distinctive styling and actual lighting features as seen in the movie. Not bad!
This promotional trailer was specially produced to promote the campaign:
Michael J. Fox played the lead role of Marty McFly in the original movie trilogy and was unfortunately diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 1991.
